Antichissima e nobile famiglia, conosciuta come De Giorgio, Giorgi, de Georgiis e Đurđević (Gjurgjević), tra le più importanti casate della Repubblica di Ragusa (Dubrovnik). Secondo una antica ma accreditata tradizione, i De Giorgi giunsero in Ragusa da Roma, ove erano ascritti ab antiquo tra le nobiltà. Lo studioso Konstantin Jireček ipotizza invece una ascendenza cattarina, trovandosi citato nelle fonti un Jacobus Georgii de Catarino, sul calar del XIII secolo). Nel corso dei secoli, i De Giorgi si suddivisero in vari rami, unendosi con altre famiglie nobili di Ragusa. Nell'anno 1370 la famiglia risulta iscritta nel libro d'oro della Repubblica di Genova. Un Damiano De Giorgi fu poi al servizio del re ungherese Mattia Corvino, ricevendo l'attribuzione di grandi possedimenti e il diritto di inserire nel proprio stemma il corvo reale. Tra il 1440 e il 1640 i De Giorgi contarono centonove membri del Maggior Consiglio, ottennero duecentotré cariche senatoriali, centosessantatré
