Antica ed assai nobile famiglia toscana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Residente e nobile della città di Firenze, ove ebbe dimora in San Giovanni, al gonfalone Vaio, si ritiene che sia della medesima agnazione della casata Lazzari di Pistoia, fiorente già nel 1204 con quel Lazzaro, di Rustichello, console in patria. Lanfranco, di Lazzaro, fu console dei soldati nel 1222; Angiolo, di Datuccio, fu podestà di Arezzo nel 1384; Sinibaldo fu podestà di Viterbo nel secolo XVI. Non si dimentichi poi la figura di Monsignor Corrado Lazzeri, poligrafo ed erudito, principale animatore della vita dell’Accademia aretina nel periodo compreso fra le due guerre mondiali.
