Antichissima ed illustre famiglia trentina, la quale, secondo una consolidata tradizione, supportata da una sentenza del 7 settembre 1923 del Tribunale di Novara, è originaria di Peio, nella cui chiesa parrocchiale si trova la tomba di famiglia, risalente al secolo decimo settimo. Il primo di cui si ha memoria è un Martino De Martini, notaio, vissuto nella seconda metà del '400. Uno dei suoi discendenti fu il celebre padre gesuita Martino, che, nel sec. XVI, fu il primo missionario che andò in Cina e la percorse quasi interamente, compiendo importanti studi geografici sul paese. Costui lasciò un'opera insigne, intitolata: "Atlas cinensis". Hanno lasciata chiara memoria i due dottori Carlo Fabiano e Girolamo, vissuti nella seconda metà del secolo decimo settimo. Il primo fu Assessore delle Valli di Non e di Cles, il secondo, chiamato dal Principe Vescovo di Trento, rimase fino alla morte suo segretario. Tal insigne prosapia venne innalzata
