Antigua y muy noble noble familia toscana, conocida como Micheli o De Micheli, nacida de Lucca, que se mudó a Suiza en el siglo X y luego se extendió a Lombardía y Véneto. La tradición dice que los orígenes de este apellido se remontan a la época de la fundación de Lucca. De hecho, se dice de cierto Quirino, un noble romano, que contribuyó a la construcción de la ciudad de Lucca y que, por lo tanto, deseaba ser el progenitor de la familia.
