Antica famiglia del Sud d'Italia di origine normanna, ha goduto nobiltà in Sicilia nelle città di Messina, Marsala, Monte San Giuliano. Un Raineri fu giudice straticoziale in Messina nel 1381; un Giuseppe fu proconservatore in Monte San Giuliano nell’anno 1634; un Vincenzo fu giurato in Marsala nel 1694-95 e capitano di giustizia nel 1705-6; un Andrea fu barone della salina di Fragiovanni in Marsala; un Clemente, da Monte San Giuliano, fu giurato di detta città nel 1701-2, e nel 1723 ottenne concessione del feudo di Radilbesi, fu poi monaco cappuccino col nome di Onorato e trasmise il feudo al figlio Antonio, che fu proconservatore in Monte San Giuliano, nel 1734; un Vincenzo, barone della salina di Fragiovanni, per investitura del 13 marzo 1749, faceva parte, nel 1759, della nobiltà di Marsala e tenne la carica di prefetto in detta città, nel 1775-76; un Stanislao ed un Giuseppe furono giurati
