Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Etienne, croisé en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Barthèlemy, fait un accord avec le chapitre de Dol en 1277; Guillaume et Olive sa femme, font un échange de terres sises paroisse de Ploguénast, avec Olivier de Rohan, en 1323; Jean, ratifie le traité de Guérande en 1381; Olivier seigneur de la Villeoury, prête serment au duc en 1437 et épouse Marguerite Rosty, dont: Olivier, marié à Catherine Bourdais; Pierre, marié à Anne de Couëspelle, auteurs des diverses branches de cette famille; Gilles chevalier de l'ordre et gentilhomme de la chambre du Roi en 1633; un page du Roi et une fille à Saint-Cyr en 1737; un abbé de Ménat au diocèse de Clermont en 1765; un lieutenant de vaisseaux fusillé à Quiberon en 1795; un maréchal de camp en 1845. La branche de Crénan fondue vers 1600 dans Perrien.
