Una famiglia De Taddei era nel 1400 a Genova, fra quelle che costituivano l'Albergo Sopranis: si trova, infatti, che un Quilico De Taddei, notaro, si fece dire "Sopranis", con atto del 9 marzo 1415. Egli era stato capitano di galera nel 1384, partecipò all'impresa contro Tunisi, nel 1388, fu ambasciatore al papa nel 1396, podestà di Pera nel 1411 e fu ancora ufficiale di provvigione e anziano nel 1417. Pure anziano, nel 1417, fu Raffaele. La famiglia De Taddei di cui trattiamo ora, è oriunda da S. Stefano Magra (presso Sarzana) o almeno vi si trova sin dall'anno 1340, epoca alla quale risalgano le prime notizie certe di essa. Diede parecchi uomini insigni al sacerdozio, alle professioni legali, qualcuno alle armi; ebbe largo censo, cospicue parentele con le famiglie più nobili ed antiche della regione; raggiunse il massimo splendore nei secoli XVII e XVIII, ottenendo nel 1787 la iscrizione dei
