Antica e illustre famiglia oriunda da Asti, che si vuole, ma con nessun fondamento, originaria dalla Fiandra. Diramò largamente, ma di tutti i rami un tempo fiorenti, oggi non rimangono che il presente e quello dei marchesi di Prunetto, dei quali non si conoscono gli attacchi genealogici fra di loro. Appartenente a questo ramo un Tommaso che avendo soccorso di denari il marchese Teodoro Paleologo di Monferrato, ebbe in dono il castello e il feudo di Camino nel 1323, dei quali fu investito il 27 settembre 1327. Sposò Antonina di Valperga, e furono suoi figli, fra gli altri: Giorgino, Lorenzo e Rolando. Quest'ultimo, che fu vescovo di Reggio (1340) e patriarca di Costantinopoli (1348) lasciò numerose opere manoscritte, conservate un tempo nel monastero di S. Bartolomeo d'Azzano, poi nella biblioteca civica di Asti. Giorgino (dec. 1397) acquistò da Guglielmo Papa signore di Brusaschetto il feudo di Brusaschetto e dal marchese
