Antica e nobilissima famiglia, detta anche Peregrino, le cui origini risalgono a quando, sotto il reggimento del Re Ruggiero, un Papirio Del Pellegrino rese onorevoli servigi militari nel 1129 e, nel servigio militar del Buon Re Guglielmo, che mandò in Terra Santa, un Giovanni Del Pellegrino. Segue a costui Thomaso Del Pellegrino ostiario, e portier di Camera dell'imperatore Federico II, il cui figlio Gerardo Del Pellegrino ebbe, dal medesimo Imperatore, il governo dell'isola di Malta, e di Gozo. Da costui ebbe origine la famiglia Del Pellegrino di Malta, già descritta dal virtuoso Cavalier, e Vice Cancelliere della Religione Gerosolimitana, Frate Giovan Francesco Abela, nella sua Malta Illustrata.
