La famiglia Della Gaspera è assai antica e nobile, furono anche chiamati Gasperoni, Gasparin, Gasparina, conforme la pronuncia dialettale dei vari paesi dove abitarono. Un di loro, il dott. Giambattista, fu soprannominato, assieme alla sua famiglia, del Gallo d'oro, per certi idoli scoperti nelle sue indagini archeologiche. Da Comacchio passarono a Ferrara, ed un Maurizio Della Gaspera fu consigliere nell'arte dei fabbri e orefici nel 1751. Un ramo si trova nel Canton Ticino, un altro a Verona e nel Vicentino. La famiglia sono compresi negli elenchi delle famiglie italiane che esistevano nella nobiltà Carniola austiraca. Godettero la nobiltà di Padova. I membri della famiglia di Pisa e di Urbino sono ascritti col titolo di nobili negli elenchi ufficiali della nobiltà italiana, Macerata diede i natali a Gasparo Gasparini, che studiando per suo capriccio la pittura, finì col lasciare, intorno al 1585, varie opere alcune delle quali imitano quelle di
