Antica ed assai nobile famiglia calabrese, con residenza nella città di Tropea, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. La casata si è imparentata con altre nobili prosapie del suo tempo, come i Mattei o Mazzei, signori di Montefusco. Essa ha goduto nobiltà anche in Catanzaro. Tra i personaggi più illustri che da tal famiglia hanno tratto i natali, ricordiamo: Ricerio, nel numero dei Ciambellani di re Roberto d’Angiò; Orazio, Consigliere del S.C.R.; Carlo, ascritto tra i nobili di Tropea nel 1703. Altro ramo. Nobile famiglia corsa di signori feudali della Banda di Fuori, la quale prese il nome dal sito fortificato di La Rocca presso il villaggio di Olmeto, dominante il golfo di Valinco. A tal famiglia appartenne il celebre Sinucello Della Rocca, detto Giudice di Cinarca, che era stato eletto conte di Corsica nella seconda metà del Duecento ed aveva ricoperto quella carica
