Famiglia di Chieri, di chiara e provata nobiltà, le cui prime vestigia rimontano al sec. XII, aggregata coi Raschieri all'albergo degli Albuzzani. Si rinviene in alto stato già in principio del sec. XV, con Luigi, autore del lustro e della fortuna di sua casa, infeudato successivamente di Cavallerleone (1402), di Arignano (1407), di Polonghera (1411), di Bene (1412), di Valogorera (1413), di Trinità (1416), di Carrù (1418), ecc. Servì nei consigli e in guerra il primo duca di Casa Savoia, Amedeo VIII, e il principe d'Acaia, col grado di luogotenente generale delle truppe. Sposò Eleonora di Saluzzo, della famiglia sovrana di Saluzzo. Alla sua morte, parve per un momento che la gran fortuna e il fastigio di sua casa impallidissero; perchè i figli, sotto la tutela del maresciallo Manfredo di Saluzzo, dovettero essere riabilitati dalla colpa di usura apposta al padre e reintegrati nei loro diritti successori colla composizione di
