Ancient and illustrious Sardinian family, of clear and ancestral virtue, spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. According to what is handed down to us, it belongs to the same prosapia of the Murta, nobles of Sorgono, whose branches, over time, have been transcribed as De Murta, De Murtas or Demurtas. According to some heraldic reconstructions the (de) Murta or Demurtas have their most ancient origins in the Republic of Genoa from whence, during the fourteenth century, they moved to Sardinia. Amico was ambassador to Constantinople in 1157 and 1168; Gherardo was consul of the placites in 1204 and before it was Henry in 1181; Ido belonged to the elderly in 1260 like Nicolò in 1396; Giovanni was doge in 1345.
