Familia originaria de Ibiza, de donde era natural Berenguer D., que en 1285 fué Diputado por aquella isla para pasar a la de Mallorca y jurar obediencia al Rey Don Alonso III de Aragón. Bernardo D. era Jurado en 1426. El Doctor Gabriel D. fué Canónigo, Consejero del Rey Don Juan II de Aragón y Catedrático lullusta en Mallorca y Jaén. Miguel D. fué el primer primer Prior mallorquín que tuvo la Cartuja de Valldemosa. Murió en opinión de Santo en 1495. Ramón D. figuró entre los veinte caballeros mallorquines que en 1506 acompañaron al Rey Don Fernando el Católico a Nápoles. Romeo D. pasó en 1522 a Valencia para la persecución de los Comuneros. Pedro Juan D. era caballero muy principal en 1555 e hizo un préstamo de 2.500 escudos a los Jurados de Andraix para rescate de los cautivos. En 1567 fué Baile general del reino y Conseller por la clase de noble. Sor María D. y Montornés, religiosa Carmelita Descalza, se distinguió como escritora mística. El Doctor Diego D. y Montornés fué Chantre de la Catedral de Palma y astrónomo. Juan Odón D. y Puigdorfila escribió varias obras en prosa y en verso. Pertenecía a la Cofradía de Caballeros denominada de San Jorge. Murió por los años de 1700. José D. y Sureda, Maestrante de Valencia, fué el último de su apellido en Mallorca.
