Famiglia di antica nobiltà, oriunda da Sondrio in Valtellina. Forse le sue lontane origini si ricollegano con quelle della famiglia Sirtori del territorio della pieve di Missaglia, donde si sarebbe trasferita in Valtellina, come la famiglia milanese dei Parravicino ed altre. Secondo i documenti prodotti nel 1815 alla I.R. Commissione Araldica di Milano, almeno dall'anno 1650 essa fu sempre tratta con prefissi nobiliari ed usò di un proprio stemma gentilizio che fu scolpito nel secolo XVIII nel sepolcro dell'arciprete di Sondrio, Gian Battista Sertoli. L'albero genealogico della famiglia ha per capostipite Gio. Giorgio, già defunto nel 1659; da lui nacque Gio. Battista, ricordato in atti del 1637 e 1659, morto prima del 1694. Questi diede i natali a Carlo (vivente nel 1676), sposato a d Ottavia Guicciardi, e padre di Pietro Martire, nato a Sondrio il 2 maggio 1676, il quale si sposò ivi il 3 febb. 1698 con Elisabetta
