Família francesa antiga e nobre, conhecida como Desmaret ou Desmarets, de virtude clara e ancestral, que se espalhou pelo mundo ao longo dos séculos. Originalmente de Soissons, essa poderosa família possuía os marquisados de Maillebois, Blevy, Rouvray e Allègre. Em todas as épocas, sempre se destacou graças às figuras de destaque, que deram à luz, no serviço público, nas profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Jean D., intendente geral de finanças em Soissons (1634), foi nomeado conselheiro de estado em 2 de setembro de 1652. Nicolas D., controlador geral de finanças, ministro de estado (1708), tornou-se grande tesoureiro das ordens do rei (1713 ) Jean-Baptiste-François D., marquês de Maillebois, governador de St. Omer e da província de Languedoc, cavaleiro das ordens do rei, embaixador na corte da Baviera (1718), obtido em 11 de fevereiro de 1718, o marechal bastão da França. Casara-se em Auvergne, em 26 de janeiro
