Nobilissima famiglia, originaria della Francia e, genealogisti come Marco Giliberti e Guglielmo Paradino, dicono che derivi dalla chiarissima Famiglia dei Signori della Rocca di Simon, nel Ducato d'Angiò. Un Olivier passò in Italia col Re Carlo d'Angiò, e nella coronazione, che quel Re fece in Palermo nel 1264, passando da Trapani, lasciò ivi Castellano il predetto Olivier, allora suo Conservatore del Tribunal del Real Patrimonio. Questi si casò con Leonora Filiacin, figlia di Giovanni, un nobile Trapanese, con la quale generò Oldorico Dessimone. Egli si casò con Perna di Ferro, nobile donzella, e con lei procreò Giovanni, Oliviero e Rinaldo, che riuscirono gentiluomini virtuosi, e furono ricevuti dai Re Aragonesi in molto pregio, i quali in diversi anni furono Rettori della Città di Trapani, e di Mazara, dove l'Oliviero si casò nel 1330 con Lucia Formica, nobile della medesima Città, e piantò ivi la sua famiglia nobilmente,
