Da Spalato in Dalmazia e dall Albania si trasferì questa famiglia verso la metà del sec. XV a Udine con un Nicolò quondam, povero tintore schiavone, il quale continuò a esercitare nella nuova residenza il suo mestiere, vi prese moglie e vi propagò la sua discendenza. Migliorate le condizioni economiche della famiglia, un figlio di Nicolò, Giacomo, dotato di vivace ingegno, studiò legge e divenne ben presto un giureconsulto di grido, tanto che la Repubblica Veneta lo volle suo consultore nella scabrosa materia dei confini. Francesco Cornaro, legato veneto, essedo stato con diploma 20 genn. 1521 creato da Carlo V conte palatino, con facoltà di elevare altri alla stessa dignità, nominò conte palatino il suo segretario Giacomo con tutti i discendenti, rilasciandogli il relativo diploma indata 2 maggio 1521. Giacomo morì in Portogruaro nel 1542. Gio. Battista nel 1588 fu eleto Rettore dei legisti dello Studio padovano. Suo nipote Giacomo
