Antigua y muy noble familia del Reino de las Dos Sicilias, de clara y ancestral virtud, que ha gozado de nobleza en Capua, Sessa, Palermo y Messina, que se ha extendido a lo largo de los siglos en diferentes regiones de Italia. Poseía la tierra de Fiumara di Muro y la granja de Calanna, la oficina de la rantaria de Palermo, la tierra marcada o propiedad de Lo Fegotto y pasó a la orden de Malta en las personas de Giovan Filippo Di Francesco-Saccano- Spadafora-Saccano, en 1553, y Ottavio Di Francesco-Lombardo-Saccano-Arena, en 1573. La tradición heráldica dice que el fundador de esta familia fue un caballero capuchino llamado Francesco, secretario del rey Carlo lo Zoppo, que se convirtió en más tarde, gobernador de la ciudad de Sessa, en tiempos del rey Roberto. Trasplantado a Sicilia, bajo Alfonso de Castiglia, la familia se dividió en dos ramas: una establecida en Palermo
