Antica casata originaria Toscana che ha lasciato le più antiche memorie in Pistoia dove godeva nobiltà fino dal secolo XIV. Blasius e Meuccio furono degli Anziani di detta città, il primo nel 1329, il secondo nel 1339; ambedue in altri anni successivi. Luca, iscritto all'Arte dei Calzaioli, fu Consigliere nel 1381. Ser Francesco di Vanni nel 1347 fu mandato dalla Repubblica Fiorentina ambasciatore in Romagna. Giovanni fu degli Anziani di Pisa nel 1393. Passati quindi negli Stati Pontifici furono decorati del titolo di Conte Palatino. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio.
