Família antiga e muito nobre do Reino das Duas Sicílias, conhecida como Di Pietro ou Pitrù, que gozava de nobreza em Messina, Caltagirone e Vizzini, espalhada ao longo dos séculos em diferentes regiões da Itália com assentamentos conspícuos em Abruzzo e Molise. Esta família, no desenrolar das décadas, sempre conseguiu produzir uma série de homens que tornaram o seu nome famoso, no emprego público, nas profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Um Pietro-Antonio, de Filippo, e um Vincenzo estão registrados na nobre braçola de Mollica; um Francesco foi patrício de Caltagirone no ano de 1608-9 e foi empossado em 1610-11; um Antonino foi senador daquela cidade nos anos de 1645-46 e 1648-49; um Clemente, di Pietro, com um privilégio concedido em 21 de julho de 1713, obteve o título de barão do Vausi e talvez ele próprio tenha sido empossado por Vizzini em 1718; um Vincenzo foi capitão
