Antica ed assai nobile famiglia oriunda spagnola, nota sin dal secolo decimo settimo, conosciuta come Todaro o di Todaro, giunta in Sicilia nel 1668 con un Benedetto Todaro y Osorio, cavaliere di san Giacomo della Spada, maestro procuratore razionale e barone della Galia per concessione di re Carlo II 1673. Stabilitasi in Monte San Giuliano, la casata ebbe dimora anche in Trapani ed in Palermo. Notiamo di essa un Felice, presidente della Gran Corte Civile di Palermo, commendatore dell'Ordine di Francesco ed Agostino (1818-1892), nobile dei baroni di Galia, senatore del Regno dal 1879, docente universitario, direttore dell'Orto Botanico di Palermo dal 1856 al 1892, socio dell'Accademia Pontiniana dal 1883, ordinario dell'Accademia di Scienze Naturali di Palermo, commendatore dell'Ordine della Corona d'Italia, cavaliere dell'Ordine dei SS. Maurizio e Lazzaro. Il titolo di Barone Il ramo primogenito si è estinto alla fine del XIX secolo, il ramo cadetto discende da Felice
