Antiga e muito nobre família de origem espanhola, conhecida desde o século X VII, conhecida como Todaro ou di Todaro, chegou à Sicília em 1668 com um Benedetto Todaro y Osorio, cavaleiro de San Giacomo della Spada, procurador-mestre racional e barão da Galia por concessão do rei Carlos II em 1673. Estabelecida em Monte San Giuliano, a família também viveu em Trapani e Palermo. Destacamos um Felice, presidente do Grande Tribunal Civil de Palermo, comandante da Ordem de Francesco e Agostino (1818-1892), nobre dos barões da Galia, senador do Reino desde 1879, professor universitário, diretor do Jardim Botânico de Palermo de 1856 a 1892, membro da Academia Pontiniana desde 1883, ordinário da Academia de Ciências Naturais de Palermo, comandante da Ordem da Coroa da Itália, cavaleiro da Ordem das SS.
