Famille ancienne et noble venue de Sicile en Sardaigne, où, dans la première moitié du XVe siècle, apparaissait déjà comme noble à Sassari. A Sassari, le 31 août 1439, avaient été armés les chevaliers Christophe et Léonard et le 1er octobre 1443, Barthélemy. Dans les premières années du XVIe siècle, cette famille s'installe à Alghero, où certains membres de la famille prennent des fonctions publiques. Antonio DiManno, d'Alghero, major d'infanterie de la RR. Armé et capitaine du port d'Alghero, a obtenu une déclaration de chevalerie et de noblesse, avec deux degrés différents de chevalerie et de noblesse, le 4 janvier 1815, pour lui-même et pour ses fils et descendants mâles. De lui et de la noble Maria Diaz, Joseph est né, qui, avec un diplôme du roi Carlo Alberto, le 29 janvier 1833, a obtenu le titre et la dignité de baron, transmis aux descendants mâles par ordre de primogéniture
