Antica ed assai nobile famiglia portoghese, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa e del Mondo. In data 4 marzo 1752, fu concesso l'utilizzo dell'arme a Manuel Passos Dias, Cavaliere dell'Ordine di Cristo. In data 4 aprile 1820, fu concesso ad António Moreira Dias, Cavaliere del medesimo Ordine, figlio del fu Antonio, anch'egli Cavaliere di Cristo. In data 4 aprile 1820, l'uso dello stemma fu riconosciuto a Joaquim Inácio Moreira Dias, Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Torre e della Spada, fratello del precedente; in data 26 marzo 1823, a Jerónimo Lourenço Dias, capitano in Vila de Lomba e Cavaliere di Cristo. La chiara nobiltà della famiglia risulta confermata dalla sua presenza nella pregevole opera "Armorial Lusitano - Anuário da Nobreza de Portugal". Un cospicuo ramo del casato, inoltre, era passato in tempi remoti a risiedere in Sicilia. Un Pietro, infatti, con privilegio del 12 settembre
