Trae origine questa famiglia da un Ristoro di Bonone nominato in istrumento del 1231 per alcuni beni che teneva in feudo dalla mensa fiorentina a Monte di Croce, Aceraia e Galiga. Ebbe egli le sue case in Firenze nel Borgo, allora, di Pietrapiana, e lì o in quei pressi, in Borgo Allegri e in via Santa Maria (oggi Michelangelo Buonarroti) ebbero le loro i suoi discendenti fino al sec. XVI. Da prima si dissero Bononi poi nel sec. XIV ridotta a un solo fiato la famiglia da un Gerino si dissero Gerini; furono per la somiglianza dell'arme (d'oro a tre catene rosse in banda), e per la antica vicinanza dei possessi, e per certi antichi rapporti fra le due famiglie, ritenuti consorti dei Cassi, antica famiglia di notaj, che ebbe, come essi, antica sepoltura nell'antichissima chiesa di S.
