Con Lettere Patenti del 3 ottobre 1909, la signora Giuseppa Maddalena in Magliano fu autorizzata ad assumere e trasmettere il titolo di barone di Longano. L'ultima intestazione di barone della terra di Longano, nel Molise, è del 28 aprile 1796 a Domenico, per acquisto fatto, previo R. Assenso del 7 sett. 1795, da Antonio de Filippo, che aveva acquistata tale terra da Tommaso Castiglioni, che l'aveva a sua volta acquistata da Geronimo de Franchis, duca di Longano, il quale l'aveva ereditata, col titolo di duca, da sua madre Isabella Summaia. Il titolo di duca sulla terra di Longano fu concesso alla predetta Isabella Summaia il 7 maggio 1656 con l'anzianità di S. Angelo in Grotte dal 29 ottobre 1639, dai Summaia passò unitamente al feudo per legale successione alla famiglia de Franchis; ma vendutasi la terra da Geronimo de Franchis al regio consigliere Tommaso Castiglione, senza titolo, rimase questo ai
