Antico ed assai nobile casato spagnolo, detto Todaro o Dodaro, a secondo del modo di scrittturare i cognomi, giunto in Sicilia nel 1668, con il cavaliere di San Giacomo della Spada Benedetto, maestro procuratore razionale e barone della Galia, per concessione di re Carlo II 1673. Tra i personaggi che, maggiormente, diedero lustro a tal casato, ricordiamo: Felice, presidente della Gran Corte Civile di Palermo, commendatore dell'Ordine di Francesco I; Agostino, uno degli avvocati principi del foro palermitano, scienziato botanico. Il ramo primogenito di questa famiglia trovasi in Trapani ed è stato rappresentato dal barone di Galia, Benedetto (1779). E' iscritta nel Libro d'Oro della Nobiltà Italiana col titolo di nobile dei baroni della Galia (mf.), la linea cadetta di Felice, in persona di Antonio, di Agostino, di Felice.
