Antigua y noble familia siciliana, originaria de Catania pero inscrita en la nobleza de Messina desde el siglo XVII, de virtud clara y ancestral, que se ha extendido por todo el mundo a lo largo de los siglos. La clara nobleza de la Casa queda confirmada por la presencia de su blasón en la valiosa obra "Il Dizionario stórico-blasónico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" del escritor y heraldista italiano Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19 de mayo de 1819 – 8 de marzo de 1892), publicado en Pisa en tres volúmenes entre 1886 y 1890. Además, esta familia, en todas las épocas, siempre se destacó, gracias a las figuras destacadas que dieron origen, en el servicio público, en las profesiones liberales y en el servicio militar. Entre ellos, sin menospreciar los omitidos, quisiéramos mencionar: Giuseppe valiente luchador contra los otomanos, valiente luchador en la "guerra de Otranto",
