Uma família muito antiga e nobre, ela era a dama de feudo de Villanova e dizia personagens ilustres, especialmente na carreira eclesiástica. Nas lembranças de tempos passados, lemos algumas variações desse sobrenome, devido às causas usuais da fonética histórica, da pronúncia de dialetos e da maneira de interpretar sobrenomes nas escrituras, é opinião comum entre os estudiosos que o Donzello e o Donzello são ramos de um única cepa. Giuseppe, arcebispo de Sorrento em 1574, e Vincenzo bispo de Sulmona, criado por S. Pio V. Não há mais atualizações heráldicas do ramo original desta família desde o século XVIII. Outro ramo.
