L'antichità di questa nobile famiglia si comprende dal Testamento d'Alberto Orsi nel 1167, rarissimo avanzo dell'antichità presso il Senatore vivente, rogato per Alberto d'Ugo Notaro nel quale si legge Ridolfo Morandi, uno de' suoi Commissari, il detto testamento fù causato dall'Archivio di S. Francesco da Gio. Parigi antiquario bolognese, ponendosi anticamente simili scritture nelle Chiese de' Quartieri, non si cominciato a tenere le scritture ordinate nell'Archivio del pubblico prima del 1266. Questa ha avuto uomini illustri, e gode un feudo con titolo di Conte. Antonio fù del Cons.dei 2 mila, Bulgarino fù degl'Anziani e Dott. di Medicina, come anche Ugolino suo Padre in alcun luoghi è detto Morandini. Marco, e Guidotto furono citati, per causa di Stato da Enrico Imperatore. Bonifacio scrittore antico, scrisse il fatto di Papa Giovanni XXII, con l'Antipapa Nicola V. Zono di Bartolomeo della Cappella di S. Martino della Croce de' Santi, fù Ministrale
