According to some ancient chronicles the origin of the family would be common to that of the Pichi, Pio, Manfredi, Papazzoni, Pedoca sons and grandchildren of a Manfredi of Saxony who would marry a daughter of Emperor Constantius with whom he would pass to Italy.
