Família antiga e notável do Reino de Nápoles, de virtude clara e ancestral, que possui um progenitor comum com o nobre Doto do Veneto, ou seja, que Doto floresce em Barbarano em 1174, cujo ramo emigrou para o Brasil no início do século XX. De acordo com as reconstruções heráldicas, de fato, alguns descendentes deste Doto mudaram-se para residir na área napolitana e, com o tempo, a cognominização foi alterada para Dotoli. Além disso, essa família, no desenrolar de seu brilho, sempre conseguiu produzir uma série de homens que tornaram seu nome famoso, em empregos públicos, profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Entre eles, sem elevar o valor dos omitidos, destacam-se: Tommaso, proprietário de terras na região napolitana, florescendo em 1646; Niccolò, cavaleiro, florescendo em Nápoles, em 1699; Gio. Batta, doutor em Direito, florescendo em Ariano di Puglia, em 1729; Giacomo, proprietário de terras na área de Foggia,
