Ancient and noble family of the Holy Roman Empire, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. Originally from Malmedy, a city once German but Belgian since the end of the First World War, this house since the sixteenth century has been one of the most influential in the area. It has in fact taken its surname from an ancient suburb of Malmedy, becoming first "d'Outrelepont" and finally "Doutrelepont". The first member of the family we know of flourished in the year 1500 and was the director of the Malmedy Hospital. Famous that Joseph Doutrelepont, born in Malmedy in 1776 and died in Würzburg on May 8, 1845, esteemed professor of medicine throughout Germany, honoured by the King of Bavaria and member of many erudite societies.
