Visse chiarissima questa famiglia nel reggimento Aragonese in Palermo, dove molte volte godé il carico di Senatore della medesima Città, come si vede nell'Indice dei Pretori, Giurati, e Capitani d'essa Città. La sua origine fu antichissima col dominio della Città di Traina, d'onde ella prese il cognome, seppur con variazioni, al tempo dei Re Normanni, tuttavia ella si ridusse in un rampollo nella medesima Città di Palermo, che formò Dottori, e altri virtuosi gentiluomini. Fabrizio Draina fu signor della Terra della Turretta, ed il fratello D. Francesco per le sue virtù, e lettere essendo stato molti anni Cappellano regio della Maestà Cattolica, fu dal Re Filippo Quarto eletto Vescovo di Agrigento, nel qual carico si portò con lode di magnanimo, e virtuoso Prelato, comprò della Regia Corto le Città d'Agrigento, e Leocata.
