Originaria di Baviera, passata in Fiandra, donde un ramo si trasferì nel napoletano con i fratelli Giuseppe ed Enrico, entrambi marescialli di campo, figli del brigadiere Michele. Fu ricevuta per giustizia nell'ordine di Malta nel 1787, e nell'ordine Costantiniano nel 1756 e per la sua antica nobiltà, riconosciuta ancora dalla Regia Camera di S. Chiara nel 1789, dichiarata reiteratamente ammissibile nelle Regie Guardie del Corpo. Una linea di qusta famiglia fu decorata ai 12 ottobre 1759 del titolo di marchese, ed ammessa in seguito alla nobiltà di Messina. Essa é ora rappresentata in Napoli dal marchese Antonio D. di Giuseppe, spos. Maria Pucci-Balsamo, che ha per figliolo Giuseppe, spos. Guarino, e nel ramo secondogenito da Vincenzo di Antonio, che ha per figliolo Mario, e dal fratello Alfonso.
