Dieser Familienname stammt aus dem persönlichen Namen "Eberhard", der sich aus den Elementen "eber" (= "Wildschwein") und "hart" ("mutig", "robust", "stark") zusammensetzt. Diese Familie war in allen Altersgruppen dank der prominenten Persönlichkeiten, die im öffentlichen Dienst, in den liberalen Berufen und im Militärdienst geboren wurden, immer herausragend.
