Si favoleggia della discendenza di questa famiglia da un Re di Tracia d nome Oddone, un di cui figlio passato con un esercito in Castiglia nel 500, si impadronì di questo stato. Fabbricò quindi nel territorio occupato un castello che denominò Oddone. Si vuole da altri che il castello sia stato fabbricato in epoca diversa, e cioè nel 714. Passarono poi dalla Spagna i discendenti di questa famiglia, e vennero in Italia. Si narra da altri scrittori che questa famiglia, pur sempre discendente dal Re di Tracia, provenga da un castello denominato Oddone situato nella Gian Bretagna, da dove se ne partì in conseguenza delle lotte religiose avvenute nel 1534 sotto il Re Enrico VIII Tudor. tre fratelli che vennero in Italia.
