E' questo, come già detto, un ramo della precedente famiglia originato da Giovan Antonio, patrizio di Trani, che sulla fine del cinquecento stabilì a Foggia la sua dimora. Un suo discendente, Girolamo, da Foggia si trapiantò verso il 1700 a Bari, ove sposò Anna Teresa Effrem, ultima di tal nobile casato di origine greca, che perciò fu da allora aggiunto al proprio. AI de A. Effrem ottennero nel 1749 l'aggregazione al patriziato di Bari, nel 1797 il titolo di marchese di Torre Ruggiero, e nel 1804 l'ascrizione al Reg. Piazze Chiuse nella persona di Geronimo. Questa famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenc. uff. in tre rami: quello discendente da Geronimo, di Giuseppe, col titolo (mpr.) di marchese di Torre Ruggiero e di patrizio di Bari (m.); quello discendente da Enrico, di Geronimo, col titolo patriziale (m.) e predicato di Torre Ruggiero, e quello infine disc. da Cesare, di Geronimo. iscr.
