Ancient and very noble family of Bavaria, one of the sixteen federal states of Germany, of clear and ancestral virtue, known as Elbing or Elbing of Unterschönfelt, which has spread, over the centuries, in different regions of Europe. The clear nobility of the house is confirmed by the presence of its blazon in the valuable work of JB Rietstap (12 May 1828–24 December 1891), a dutch heraldist and genealogist, "The Armorial General", a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families.
