Secondo alcuni autori questa famiglia è di origine greca, e le memorie ne risalgono ad un Guidone, partito crociato nel 1187; godette nobiltà in Napoli in un ramo ora estinto. Possedette molti feudi tra i quali quello della Castellina col titolo di duca (1639), e quello di Pescolanciano anche col titolo di duca (1658), il quale ultimo titolo si possiede ancora dalla famiglia. Fu ascritta al registro dei feudatari. Fu decorata di alti uffici e dignità fin dai più antichi tempi; ebbe molti uomini illustri; Giovan Battista fu uno dei fondatori del Monte della Misericordia di Napoli. Sono iscritti nell'Elenco ufficiale, col titolo di duca di Pescolanciano, i disc. da Nicola di Pasquale ascr. all'Ordine di Malta. E' iscritto allo stesso Elenco ed al Libro d'Oro della nobiltà italiana il ramo secondogenito, nobile dei duchi di Pescolanciano: Giuseppe Luigi di Giambattista, con i figli: Giovanni Napoleone, Antonietta, Fabio, Luigi Filippo.
