Venne d'Alemagna la nobile famiglia Elvisi, ed ivi facendo contra i Mori gloriosi progressi si fermò nobilmente, ove i cavalier di questa famiglia fondarono vicino Barcellona un Castello, e lo chiamarono dei Belvis; ciò seguì circa gl'anni 830. del Signore, e puoco poi una Chiesa di S. Eulalia, prendendo carico di defendere certo paese incominciando dalla marina fin al fiume di Lobregate, e ne conseguirono la decima del frutto di tutte le cose, che si creavano in quello, la quale divenne una grossa entrata. Un frate Armanno uomo di molto ingegno, ed autore di varie opere fiorì nel XIII secolo. Jacopo Dott. di leggi nel 1326 sostenne con molto onore un'ambasceria ai Veneziani. La famiglia pose la dimora in Bologna, perchè considerata ne' tempi più remoti famosa trà le Repubbliche, per il valore de' suoi Capitani, per la dottrina de' suoi Giureconsulti, per i molti Rettori di diverse città, e
