The family moved to Venice in 997 from Vicenza. His name was Aimus, later contracted to Aimo and popularly called Emo and as such accepted in the fifteenth century also in public documents. An Aimus family was in Padua at the time of Augustus, and there is nothing to stop the tradition that the Aimus family from Vicenza rich in goods in the Padua and Polenise areas were the same that resided in Padua before the destruction made by the Huns.
