Very noble house of Veneto, born from the union, through the marriage of Leonardo Emo with Beatrice Capodilista, of two very noble prosapies: the Emo and the Capodilista. The Emo family is originally from Greece from where its members then moved to Dalmatia to finally take refuge in the city of Venice in 997. There it distinguished itself so much that before the Great Council Lockout, in 1290, was ranked among the patrician families. This noble House gave to the Republic: procurators of San Marco, members of the Council of Ten, senators, knights, governors and grand dukes of Candia. Famous above all is Admiral Angelo Emo, winner of the Barbary arms in Tunis and Sfax as well as the inventor of floating batteries.
