Antica ed illustre famiglia, originaria di Grosseto, trasferitasi in Siena nel XV secolo, ove ebbe altare e sepolcreto nella chiesa dei Servi e all'Osservanza. Il primo risieduto è Bartolomeo, di Piero, di Cione, nel 1457; nel 1482 si trova aver goduto dello stesso onore un altro Bartolomeo, di Leonardo. La famiglia ha un beato in persona di Giovanni, di Pietro, morto nel 1337. Celio, di Girolamo, fu cavaliere di S. Stefano nel 1635, divenendo poi il Balì di Lucca. Alessandro fu cavaliere dello stesso Ordine nel 1667, divenendone poi gran conservatore. Pure cavaliere di S.Stefano fu Giovanni, di Antonio, che fu anche rettore dello ospedale della Scala di Siena. Deifebo, di Alessandro, nel 1680, fu cavaliere di Malta. Alfonso, di Girolamo, cavaliere di S. Stefano, fu nominato nel 1845 gran ciambellano del granduca di Toscana. La famiglia fu iscritta nel Libro d'Oro dei Patrizi di Siena, con decreto del 10
