Scrive Ruberto Pisanelli nelle Famiglie Nobili Pisane, che la Casa Roncini una delle sette, che vissero nel principio della Repubblica Pisana, partorì la R., la Cadubbi, e la Scannetti, le quali vissero con dominio, e supremi ufficij, nella Repubblica, prendendo i cognomi per varie attioni illustri, che elleno fecero, e dice il medesmo Autore, che la R. fù chiamata R., mercè, che havendosi adherire tutte le famiglie nobili, e potenti di Pisa all'Imperio, e quella di Ronciuni ancora, della quale due fratelli Lodovico, e Gaddo Ronciuni solamente, tenendo fermi la devotion di Francia, furono cognominati dal vulgo Rampolli, cioè, un Rampollo solo restò devoto; non potendo stantiar più in Pisa per li fattionarij, se nè andarono in Francia nel 1225.
