Antigua familia decurional, originaria de Como, que se jacta de su progenitor Marchisio, jurisconsult, vivió en 1382. De estos, durante varias generaciones, desciende Peter, decurion, quien, tras haberse mudado a Milán, fue antepasado de Gerolamo, orador de la ciudad de Como, en 1580. El hijo de estos Alexander, decurion, se casó con Lucrezia Odescalchi, hermana del papa Inocencio XI, quien lo hizo padre de Baldassarre, obispo de Novara y Antonio Maria, senador regente, adscrito al patricio milanés, que con el diploma de Carlo. II, rey de España, 5 de abril de 1684, interino el 2 de mayo, obtuvo el título de marqués con sucesión primigenia masculina y el 18 de agosto del mismo año con la escritura del notario de cámara Vallotta fue investido con el feudo de Mondonico y sus accesorios, en el que permaneció respaldado el título.
