Provengono da Novello, e forse dalla Liguria, poi in Baratonia e Torino. Le più antiche memorie ricordano Giacomo Archatoris il quale il 9 novembre 1257 fu investito da Giacomo Del Carretto di beni rustici. Nell'investitura è detto di Novello. Pronipote suo fu Guglielmo, che acquistò il 21 e il 22 maggio 1379 punti di Altessano Superiore. Fu investito dal Duca di Savoia il 9 gennaio 1385 di parte della clericatura e segreteria di Lanzo. Acquistò da Francesco Borghese il 24 settembre 1386 Fiano. Nella infeudazione del 1386 è dichiarato dimorante a Lanzo e oriundo di Rivarolo, che gli storici identificano per Rivarolo Ligure. Fu nel 1381 aggregato alla cittadinanza torinese. Da lui nacque Erasmino (dec. 17 ottobre 1433), che fu investito di Fiano, di Altessano Superiore, e del viscontado delle parrocchie di Ala (1408), 1/2 di Vallo, 1/3 di Monasterolo.
