Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Jean, fils de Pierre, trésorier général de 1499 à 1524 épouse Bertranne Robelot; Jean, auditeur des comptes en 1515; Guillaume, épouse en 1544 Marie du Chaffault, dame dudit lieu et de Monceaux; deux pages du Roi en 1744. Une branche transplantée en Poitou au XVII siècle. Geoffroi, fils Guillaume, capitaine d'Arques et lieutenant-général du bailli de Caux pour le roi d'Angleterre, mort en 1449; François grand-maître de l'artillerie de France en 1596, père de Timoléon, maréchal de France en 1628; d'Artus, abbé de Redon en 1600, qui fit rebâtir la maison abbatiale et assista aux Etats-Généraux de 1614 en qualité de député du clergé de Bretagne; deux maréchaux de campe en 1788 et 1825; un capitaine de mobile tué à l'ennemi devant Orléans en 1870.
