Familia antigua e ilustre, nacida en Cataluña, de nobleza clara y ancestral, pasó, siguiendo a los reyes angevinos, a residir en el Reino de Nápoles, antes del siglo XV, y posteriormente se extendió a diferentes regiones de Italia.
